This week the white grapes are starting to make way for the reds. Most Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc and Chardonnay are in the Cellars. Most of the Pinotage are also in.
The Merlot blocks started coming in at a steady pace. We are harvesting some Cabernet Sauvignon too. Together with the Merlot, the Shiraz are also ripening at a blinding pace. Next week the winemakers will have their hands full with the pressure of the first red wine peak.
The Merlot’s harvested yesterday and today showed beautiful mint flavours in the berries. I am very happy with the quality of the harvest this far.
