2016 Harvest started early this morning with the picking of Chenin blanc for MCC. A total of 10 tonnes will be harvested for this purpose today. The sugar was 19ºBalling, acid 10.5 and pH 3.1. Perfect. The yield seems to be down by almost 20% due to the drought and warm summer. I blame El Niño. 🙂
So from next week things will become quite hectic again with harvest 2016 getting into the full swing of things with Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc and Pinotage coming into the cellar. Follow me on twitter at @visualviti for more frequent updates and keep your eye on #saharvest2016.
Enjoy the harvest with us!
