The reds are all ready to be picked now. The cellars are becoming full at an alarming rate and the Cellar Tetris has started. Moving grapes into empty tanks, emptying tanks that is done fermenting and moving the wine into other tanks, filling every empty space in the cellar – that is what Cellar Tetris is!

The Shiraz grapes are nearly all in – about 700 tonnes left.  The grapes are good and some blocks seems to be of exceptional quality. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main cultivar/variety that is coming into the cellars now. The quality of the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest seems to be very good and the winemakers are excited to work with these grapes. Small berries and a lighter harvest – mostly due to the abnormally dry summer we are experiencing – assures intense flavours and dark purple colour.

Cabernet Sauvignon

There are about 3500 tonnes of red grapes left to harvest, most of which is Cabernet Sauvignon. Seems we might be finished within three weeks.
