It’s been a while since I posted! The vineyards just need so much attention now. The growing season is difficult, with rain and humid days making it challenging to keep the vines healthy. All the cultivars are in full bloom now, with some early Pinotage, Chenin blanc and Chardonnay already set.
The harvest looks good for 2014, especially on Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. It is a bit early to make a call on Shiraz.
The growth of the vines look very good, with good leaf colour. Weeds are a problem this year, with all the summer rain we are receiving – with more to come this weekend. But, otherwise everything looks good and I’m looking forward to the 2014 harvest.
